While there may have been a lot of excitement with Betsy’s arrival last week but two days later it stepped up to hysteria inducing levels for Monty’s birthday. I have a huge debt of gratitude to the wonderful midwives at the hospital who not only ensured I got home but had me out by 9:30 so I could be with my birthday boy.
In honour of his birthday (and with the suspicion that I would not be up for full on party duties) I had drafted in all grandparents for support. Of course Mama and Betsy returning home closely followed by the arrival of grandparents and a pile of PRESENTS saw Milla and Monty racing around our tiny living room shrieking with delight.
I was a little sad not to be joining them in the woods for the party but with an two day old baby and icy winds it was not a smart plan. So Mama and Betsy took a nap while everyone else headed up to the woods for some frolics and cake. The cake is the work of Mr Kat who had hoped to be making a simple victoria sandwich but, thanks to Milla’s input, found himself crafting a two shaped cake which Monty stipulated would be yellow. Bravo to him for rising to the challenge whilst flying solo!
An energetic afternoon in the cold saw two rosy cheeked children return happy and tired. Monty had one last request for his birthday, to hold his little sister.
