Hand Carved Rubber Stamps

Faced with another drizzly half term morning I grabbed a box of rubbers and my lino cut tools.

I have been keeping this activity in the bank to stave off cabin fever and this morning was the perfect moment. The children designed their own stamps and I created this under the sea set.

What you’ll need:

A box of rubbers.

Lino cutting tools

Ink stamps.

How to make your stamps:

  • ¬†Draw your designs onto the rubbers. Keep in mind that you want them to be simple to cut and look good in the contrast of light and dark.
  • Cut away all areas you do not want to carry ink by sliding the lino cutting tool along the rubber.
  • Test your stamp and neaten any areas carrying ink which shouldn’t be.

If you’d like to try lino cutting there is a great beginner kit here.
