Something You Need

In the second of my Shop Indie guides I’m hitting the shops for those practical gifts. Now I might not know what all of you need but I’m hoping that you’ll find some inspiration in my list of needs.

First up is paper goodness from Papermash proving that practical can always be beautiful. I have my eye on some new washi tape as it’s practically a household staple…

Getting organised is the theme of many a January and Lollipop’s year and week planners will give you joy even if they are packed with the Labours of Hercules.

In recent years we’ve asked family for vouchers towards the children’s shoes. It may seem like a boring gift but they love being able to go into the shoe shop and pay for their own special shoes. We love to shop with Parklife Kids our local shoe shop in Winchester and our friend Claire owns the gorgeous Little Stomper.

When it comes to slippers they are a Winter necessity in a house with wooden floors. We have been buying Moccis since they were launched in 2008. Classic Swedish moccasins with soft, washable leather soles – they fit, they’re snug and I love the colours.

Despite it’s tough nature we’ve recently lost a few of our children’s melamine plates to breakages. A perfect excuse to add some new Ingela P Arrhenius designs to our collection. Peanut & Pip have the full range and you can also buy from The Pippa and Ike Show and The Kid Who (all blissful children’s shopping destinations).

We bake all of our bread fresh every day and our go to shop for supplies is Bakery Bits. From bannetons to wood-fired ovens the keen baker is well catered for.

Baby it’s cold outside but with rising fuel costs turning on the heating is not how we combat chilly evenings in this house. Our sofas are well stocked with blankets and quilts. I’ve just spotted this geometric merino wool throw by Tina Ratzer at The Peanut Vendor and, yes, you need one too.
