New Baby Sewing

So as my friend was busy welcoming her daughter into the world I was doing some super girly sewing for her. Now it has been handed over I can share it with you.

The pattern is from Handmade Beginnings byAnna Maria Horner. It was pretty easy to follow and hopefully the sleeping bag will fit. The fabric I used was Remix by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman which I bought from Fabric Rehab although they only have two prints left in this colourway. It is lined with some cosy and fluffy flannel from my local fabric shop (which I may have forgotten to pre-wash *shakes in boots*). I made a major gaffe in buying bias binding which was less than half the required width meaning there is some pretty shocking stitching on display (sorry Little M).

Overall though, I feel really proud of this. It is not something I would have thought of sewing but makes such a lovely gift. Hopefully the next one will be a little more accomplished!

Thanks Nic, it’s actually not that difficult a pettern!

That is so beautiful. I really want to be able to sew! I bought a sewing machine last year which my sister keeps showing me how to use then as soon as she goes home I forget again. Thinking about taking a course now.

Best thing to do is get a heap of old/cheap fabric and just sew. You will get the hang of it before long x

If the people who buy them promise not to look closely at the stitches…

Thanks Angela, I was seriously chuffed. Saving it up for a little baby who is due at the end of the Winter.

Hey Kat – first time reading your blog and noticed your fabulous sleeping bag – you clever thing! Am planning on ordering some Kaufman flannels for winter (from Sophie and Flitter), but loved this range too. Is the fabric soft enough to make sheets from, or is it proper quilters’ weight?

Oooh, can’t wait to see the flannels! Will email you x
