Breathe it in: Autumn has arrived.
Such excitement in my heart to be stepping into the warm embrace of Autumn. Wood smoke in the air, dark evenings and chilly mornings. We seem to have been gifted with almost perfect weather this last week. From the afternoon thunder storm which gave us golden skies and an excuse to light the fire to the endless blue skied afternoons perfect for long walks – I have loved every minute.
We’ve been out walking around the village, finding treasures and spotting changes. The biggest, juiciest blackberries to be found grow over a nettle patch. And you know I waded into the nettles to satisfy our hunger for the last of these beauties.
Seasonal food returning to our table. I have been busy making batches of our favourite spicy butternut squash soup with the sweet new squashes. Betsy* has given it her seal of approval and I see our friends at Sisters Guild are planning to serve some up today.
This morning dawned crisp and bright. Frosty breath, low sun and vapor trails criss-crossing the blue sky. Reminiscent of the school hymn engraved on my memory.
Excited whisperings of a new arrival in the village. Born just hours before and raising squeals of happiness as the news spread around the playground.
What a day. Full of hope and joy in our hearts and reflected in the world around us. Wishing you all a beautiful equinox and fruitful harvest.
*I know you are eager to hear about Betsy and her baby led weaning. I have something in the pipeline I hope to share soon. Kat xoxo
