Are They Knowing How To Do It?

I have been missing you! Sorry for ducking out over the last week. I’ve been working on a stop motion which has been taking up my evenings this last week. I’m in the last stages of filming then onto the edit – I can’t wait to unveil the finished project! Here’s a sneak preview of the action on set:

I have been getting used to filming with my new camera. As it allows me to adjust the settings manually it is both incredibly freeing and  a steep learning curve. My biggest challenge is remembering to change the white balance each time!

There is little more exciting to me than my children’s deciding they want to play cameras when I have time to play. So when they hatched the idea of making their own TV show to tell people how to make sage and onion stuffing I was setting up the tripod before they’d finished telling me.

I realised halfway through editing I’d missed a couple of close-ups so we recorded them in a second session (spot the clothing continuity error!).

They had so much fun putting this together and I’ll be adding the video to my sage and onion recipe page. They had fun, but I had fun too. I have a few film projects up my sleeve for the next few months not to mention my film class, Shooting Stories, starting in March.

Without further ado! I give you, Milla and Monty…

Please let Milla and Monty know what you thought – they are so excited to be sharing this with you x

Kat, this is so utterly adorable. My and my sister used to make so many home movies together as kids with the gigantic camera my mum used to borrow from work for us to play with in the holidays. It was so large that it had a separate battery pack which we had to wear like a handbag! I can’t wait for B to be older so we can make home movies on the iPhone. xx

That was a fantastic show, Milla and Monty – well done! And I’m really impressed that you’re using sharp knives and graters without chopping off your fingers. Maybe I’ll let my girls try those things a bit more…

Fabulous! I made this from your mama’s recipe at the weekend and it was delicious. My favourite part of the video was when Milla said, “onions make you cry” and then Monty rubbed his eyes and said, “no they don’t” then raised his eyebrows to the camera! You should definitely get your own show. Fantastic job, well done :)

I love this! You’ve totally inspired me. My 2 help out a lot when I’m baking but I’m too guilty of doing most of the work for them. So I’m going to be brave, stop being Helicopter mum and let my 6 year chop and grate and cook to his little hearts delight!

Sorry I didn’t get a chance to leave a comment earlier in the day. I watched this with my youngest two children. I liked the giggling the best (and the confident use of a knife).

This is just brilliant – I watched the whole thing with a huge grin on my face. Milla and Monty are definitely tv chefs in the making. A fantastic double act! Oh, and it looked yum too – my mouth was watering at the end…

Milla and Monty I am *really* impressed by your cooking skills! But what I enjoyed most was watching how you had so much fun and giggled so much whilst you were cooking. I was also impressed that you had time to do a costume change half way through – that’s *real* showbiz ;-)

I loved that Milla smelled the sage, clearly a natural cook, and Monty’s fascination with the blender was brilliant, also all that giggling is infectious, i couldn’t help smiling all through watching it. What a talented pair.
