Styling With Argos: Winter Feast
I was recently contacted by the team at Argos who asked if I’d be interested in working with some of their products to style my home. A quick browse of their site turned up a wealth of inspiration for my bright and cosy style so I accepted and began creating my pin mood boards.
I concentrated on two spaces: my dining table and my favourite spot on the sofa.
The seasonal decorations may have been packed away and the big celebrations are behind us but I think there is room in the dark cold weeks of Winter to add some more sparkle. Dressing the table for family meals can turn around this humdrum month and turn it into a celebration of the everyday.
We’re big on colour and light in our family so when I think about making a meal time special I’m all about creating a riot of fabulous colour. I think making things special starts with the basics – colourful table mats, plates, glasses and tablecloth mean that even if you’re not in the mood to add anything else you’re already halfway there.
I like to have potted plants on the table as they are a frugal alternative to fresh flowers. This Winter we have a trio of heathers in my patchwork flower pots. I’ve surrounded them with some old cane-ball fairy lights and set them in a salad dish to create a centrepiece which moves easily into position. With the backdrop of our light curtain (which I often film in front of as anyone who has been on one of my film or photography courses will know) early nightfall is welcomed rather than bemoaned.
With finishing touches of herb napkin rings and pretty tealights we have a gorgeous tablescape without the effort. I’ve taken to serving our food at the table in the last year or so, using the beautiful ceramics we own to further add to the layout and make us feel spoiled.
Whether you’re serving up your Sunday roast or trying to eat your way through the freezer there isn’t a meal in January that wouldn’t benefit from a little sparkle even if the festive season is behind us.
My choices: Emiko Serving Bowl (as centre piece), Glass Tea Light Holders, Tea Lights, Turqoise Ramekins, StripyPlacemats and Coasters, Water Tumblers, Yellow Baking Dish and Scallop-edged Flan Dish.
Tablecloth by ISAK (no longer available) and plates from The Kid Who and Peanut and Pip.
This has been sponsored by Argos who allowed me to choose products from their site to style in my home. For more information about this kind of post please read my disclosure for readers page. Kat xoxo

What lovely scenes – you’re very clever putting them together. I love the cosiness, your use of lots of colourful prints and the rosemary around the napkins is a great idea. Must be a bit more creative when it comes to special meals!
Your table looks so atmospheric, it’s like a scene from Nigella’s Tv show! Love the tablecloth, shame it’s no longer on sale :-(
Love the table and the ambiance!
Thanks @thatkat – nice home styling with our plates! :) Housewife Confidential | http://t.co/lCUiQaMF
