On the Plus Side…

The mower may have broken. The bindweed from next door may be rampant. The sandpit might be about to take over the whole garden but oh my; it really is beautiful when it’s left to rack and ruin.

Same here – garden looks pretty with the wild flowers growing away… ahem

I have adopted the same policy as Highgate Cemetary for my garden, which is one of “managed neglect”.

Also, I read a book about wildlife gardening recently and the main thing that I took away from it was how important it is to have a really scruffy (I mean, natural) garden in order to encourage wildlife. I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what it said.

A meadow to play in….. buttercups to shine up at the sun and happy mini beasts, sounds like heaven xx

Exactly what I think! My neighbour mows his lawn twice a week (whilst wearing coveralls and safety glasses…). As our front lawns meet there is a definite line between his close-cropped neatness and my meadow. I love long grass! And lots of weeds are pretty! I’m glad it’s not just me, but my neighbours are not a fan of my gardening technique…
