How We Roll

2012 May 23
by Kat

Betsy dreams big. Whatever she sees her siblings doing she wants to get in on the action. She’s a champion climber, holds her own in any dispute and was running along with a scooter before she could be bothered to walk.

Betsy’s clandestine love of the scooter sees her in arguments with Monty (who owns her preferred scooter) and with more than a few bumps. While She’s confident scooting around the house out in the wild it’s a whole other matter.

So when she decided that the local toddler group’s Scuttlebug was the bees knees a whole new world opened up.

She may be little but she’s one of the gang; free to roam.

And dream big some more.

Oh bless – you’re little one is so gorgeous.

I just wanted to pop in and say ‘Hi’ – and thank you. It is an absolutely honour and.

Have you seen the little seats that they now sell for Scooters to make them suitable for children from 1? I can’t decide if they are genius, or if in fact they are pointless since even those children ostensibly too small for the scooters seem to love them in any case!

I have seen them Rachel but I think I prefer the Scuttlebug (price and splayed wheels) I think they have a place as brings the handle bar height down from the regular scooter.

Oh I really did chuckle inwardly when I read this post. I was reading it on my phone in the garden with all sorts of child related craziness going on. My babykins was copying his older siblings. Yesterday he climbed to the top of our tall climbing frame and negotiated a side step to the top platform (I was right behind him, I might add). All that at 17 months. I bought him a plastic whirlygig thing from ELC to scoot around the house on for his first birthday at Christmas. It’s ok in the house (open plan laminate) but gets a bit stuck out on the pavement. I may have to invest in a scuttlebug, I’ve heard you can fold them small enough to go in a bag? I was also wondering about the scooter seat, mentioned above. I wonder if anyone has tried them both? The scuttlebug looks more stable but we have the scooter anyway, it would just need the seat adaption. Nice pictures, the expression in the second one looks very familiar, I think babykins does that face too.

You can fold them flat but would need to be a big handbag! I found they go for about a fiver at the car boot so worth looking there for a bargain!

Lola has a skuttlebug which we keep at mums. Loves it. And they fold so compactly so its win win.

Lovely pics! Reminds me of when I trundled down the road from my grandma’s on my tricycle aged 4 – I was retrieved by my grandfather pretty sharpish before I reached the main road!

She looks so pleased with herself in that third photo! S x

Oh Piran loved his Scuttlebug so much, we have the Bee and I can see lots of arguments when Kate wants to ride it. We received a Microscooter to review and have been offered one of the seats that go on it to make it suitable for younger children but I am sure that would cause arguments too!

She looks like she is having the best time. I love how easy they are to fold up and stow in the buggy too. Genius.

In my experience they always want what the other has regardless!
