Good Day Sunshine

Although her birthday is not until next week, the Jubilee celebrations meant a party next week would have been tricky. So Saturday, on an impossibly hot and blue-skied day, we had our party at the park.

We try to keep our parties low key with only a couple of games (What’s the Time Mr Wolf  above) and lots of time to play with each other how they choose.

Milla had a dream that all the tigers at her party chased a bee and caught it. A little imagination and we had a bee pinata which Mr Kat ran away with, hotly pursued by some of the most fearsome and fast tigers you have ever seen. How very lovely to be able to make her dreams come true.

It doesn’t take much to make the perfect party; a sunny day, good friends and wide open spaces. And afterwards we return home, hot, dusty, tired and full up with life.

As I slip into their room to resettle covers and move the hair from their faces I catch the scent of night jasmine. Instantly I am taken back to the memory of the long nights I waited to bring her into the world, this sweet scent rising through the windows as I paced the house.

Five. Oh my. How very old that seems.

    Happy Birthday Milla.

I have recently found myself thinking back on my two older children’s babyhoods and missing them greatly. How fast they grow!
