Reconnecting
This week I’m taking time to reassess, exhale and reconnect with my family. I feel like while I’m focused on meeting the bottom line I’m losing sight of what is important.
Finding ways to grow while feeling threatened at a fundamental level is tough. I need a good shake of the shoulders every time I start running the numbers through my head. But realising that all this worrying is standing in the way of me being the parent I want to be has helped me ground myself.
When I hear my voice raise I take a deep breath, when I see the children seeking my attention I give it and when I feel like the weight is too much I give myself permission to take it off my shoulders.
This week is half term and we’ve made plans together, we’re taking care of our home and reconnecting with each other. I’m slowing down, leaving work for later and making time for play. And boy does it feel refreshing.

Sounds like the perfect way to spend half term. I love that homemade dragon!
Thanks Bryony. We rarely do template crafts but the odd one is quite exciting!

Those shoes! SWOON.
Oh and the subject matter of this post? I hear you. This week I have finally realised I cannot do it all and nobody dies if I don’t (and I don’t even know what all is anymore!)

What can I say? The boy has his style going on. No, doing it all comes with a sacrifice so focus on the big things (well being) and let the little things (you know I mean the housework!) slide.
I love this post. It sounds as if half term has come just at the right time for you and your tribe and I love the photo of you and Betsy.
Thanks Emily, it really did I think we all felt nicely grounded. She’s taken to holding on to my hat pigtails – not so cute when it’s my hair pigtails!
