Pudding Face

So I managed to catch Lyme disease and as the Doctor I saw three weeks ago diagnosed the distinctive rash as a bruise it has got to the point where my joints are affected. Thankfully the second Doctor I saw spotted it immediately and I am now being treated and am on the mend. As I have only been able to hobble short distances there has been a lot of time with my feet up. I know, bet you’re feeling really sorry for me. Luckily I was sent another cookbook to check out so I have been feasting my eyes on Gregg’s Favourite Puddings.

Anyone who has ever watched Masterchef will know that Gregg Wallace loves his pudding. The gleam in his eye leaves you in no doubt that puddings give him intense pleasure. It’s no great surprise that he has penned a recipe book devoted to pudding in all its glory.

With 120 recipes you are seriously spoiled for choice and you could be kept in pudding for years with this book alone. It is simply laid out and grouped into themed chapters. The recipes use the minimum of instruction which makes them easy to follow. My one niggle is that there are only photos for about 1/3 recipes and I do so love to see what I’m aiming for. Despite the lack of visual enticement I am still dreaming of jammy bakewell tart, chocolate pots, earl grey sorbet and hot fudge sauce.

With in-laws who don’t consider it a meal until pudding comes out I already know this book is going to be my inspiration for their visits!

And a Mama with her feet up? Why she must need some company.

Oh no, glad the second doctor caught it! Lyme disease is terrible, I got it when I was 12, my mom was treated last year, and my aunt’s wasn’t caught soon enough so she has long term health problems. I didn’t know you got it in the UK :(

I am pretty lucky, it was just entering the second stage so on the brink of a whole heap of unpleasantness! We live in a Lyme hot spot here (New Forest & South Downs) but have never taken precautions!
