Dodgy Biscuits

I have a liking for making jam. Eating it, not so much. Luckily the rest of my family don’t feel the same way so there is an outlet for my produce. We made jammy dodgers this week from a recipe in Tana Ramsay’s Family Kitchen. There is a definite satisfaction in making these yummy little delights although be prepared to rest the dough for five hours.

As you can see Monty was very excited about the prospect of baked goods.

They looked so cute al lined up on the rack I couldn’t wait until daylight to take pictures. Sadly star shapes don’t work so well as they tend to break when you set them on top. Of course, broken biscuits taste just as good.

Milla calls them ‘jammy dodgy biscuits’ which is certainly apt. After asking her to stand by the window so I could take a photo of her eating one she now thinks that is how they should be enjoyed.

    Ooo they look lovely:) I wouldn’t even attempt to make my own jam though, seems like an art form all on it’s own

      Jam making is the best, haven’t had a full season of it since my pre-baby days so every jar is precious these days!

      @ geriatric mummy – have a go, it is simple and satisfying.

    You are fabulous. Don’t get the whole making it but not eating it, but I doubt those jammy dodgers lasted very long! Kids are looking supercute as ever!

    They look delicious! I’m putting Tana Ramsay’s book on my wishlist; I’ve used a couple of her recipes before and they always work very well and are tasty.

    I also love making jam but have to admit that I find it hard to do successfully without burning the bottoms of my saucepans – and sometimes I just can’t face the mammoth post-jam washing up job!

    They look awfully yummy. Next time, please bring me some. I especially like that they are star shaped.

    @ Natalie – love the process but just don’t like all the sweet sticky results.

    @ Alice – My favourite wedding gift was a jam pan. To prevent burning heat more slowly and keep checking for setting point. To fix burning heat coke in the burned pan – works a treat! The book is ok, not my favourite but think it will come into its own at school age.

    @ Abby – I am reliably informed they were one of the nicest things we have made to date.

    Had no idea you were so Nigella! I’ve never made jammy dodgers, but you make it look so easy. Two of my daughters think that they don’t like jam. How could anyone not like jam? I keep telling them it is strawberries and sugar and they look at me like I’m insane.
